Ken’s New Year’s Thoughts

Ken's New Year's Thoughts...

So, we find ourselves once more at the beginning of a new year. A time of reflection and resolution. For some, it is a time to hit the reset button and try to do things differently with a whole new start. For others, a time to build on what has already been achieved and increase the pace. For others still, it may be a time to slow down and finally reap the benefits of hard work – a time to enjoy doing things that make us the happiest and being with those that mean the most to us. Whatever the case, New Year is always an exciting time full of active and ambitious thoughts.

How long does this excitement last? How much has our new positivity affected our lives by February? Probably not much, if at all. And there is the crux of the matter – having positive thoughts is a great start, but I learned a long time ago that thoughts are nothing without action. So why don’t we take action? Fear of failure.

My intention here is not to lecture anyone, far from it, but I think you may be surprised to learn that Natural French Soap has been so close to failure on so many occasions. Over the years Sophie and I have made bad choices in many areas: website design; products; too many products; couriers; pricing;  packaging; the list is endless. These were all failures in judgement, but here is the good news:

“Good judgement is the result of experience and experience the result of bad judgement.” Mark Twain

When you were a baby trying to walk for the first time, did you give up the first time you fell? Did the fear of failure stop you from trying again? I’m sure it didn’t.

With every failure comes a free ticket to experience and you can’t win those tickets if you don’t take action on those thoughts and resolutions and make a few mistakes along the way – No pain, no gain, right?

It just remains for me to thank you for your continued support and for allowing us a more than a few errors of judgement over the years. Please leave your comments and aspirations below.

Sophie & I wish you all the best of health and prosperity in 2017.

BONNE ANNEE!
